This Widebody C8 Corvette is the Mid-Engined Chevy We Deserved

The first mid-engined Corvette in history, the C8 is one cool sports car that’s closer than ever to supercar territory. Sadly, production of the C8 was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic, and Chevy won’t build additional 2020 model year cars. It also seems that the 2021 model year will be a short production year too, so getting a C8 will be rather tricky in the next six to 12 months. Production of the Z06, ZR1, and Zora are also postponed, but if you’re a fan of beefed-up Corvettes, Car MStyle Design just posted a widebody concept of the C8 to keep you excited.
The cool widebody Corvette that Chevrolet should build
Car MStyle Design made some cool and extensive virtual changes to the C8 Corvette.
The car in the rendering is obviously wider, which is a cool thing to have on a supercar. We can see how the front wheel arches extend farther away from the body and how the rear fenders are much more muscular. Ground clearance is also much lower, to the point where the C8 Corvette almost rests on the pavement. The side skirts were revised with new panels toward the rear, but they also include new carbon-fiber bottoms with vertical wings.
The side skirts, the rear outlets, the front fender inserts, and the wheels are made from carbon-fiber in these renderings and include blue accents.
But that’s not all. The designer also meddled with the front fascia. The center outlets are much wider, while the side vents have been reduced to small, vertical openings. The splitter is much bigger than on the regular Corvette, and it features the same carbon-fiber design with blue accents. Similar changes are visible around back. There’s a carbon-fiber diffuser with blue accents onto the sides and a three-fin aero element in the center. The carbon-fiber wing looks a lot like the one on the original C8 Corvette, but it’s wider now.
It's a cool design overall, and even though these renderings won't transform into an actual kit, a widebody Corvette is totally doable as an aftermarket upgrade.
Let’s hope that someone actually puts something similar in production.
