It’s a little hard to believe that it’s been one year since the world of BBC->ke1860 was flipped upside its head after the suspension of Jeremy Clarkson and the subsequent departure of all three hosts from the Top Gear. Yes, time flies about as quick as a Porsche 918 Spyder on steroids. But as we wait for the new era of BBC to begin on May 8, 2016, the boys of Top Gear Magazine have been gamely holding down the fort. It hasn’t been said enough, but let’s all give credit to TGM Deputy Editor Jack Rix and Motoring Editor Oliver Marriage for keeping the BBC name alive with web segments like “Drag Races”

In the most recent episode of the always entertaining series, Rix and Marriage try to settle the growing debate surrounding the capabilities of the BMW M4 and the BMW i8. Simply put, the two try to find out which of the two sports cars is faster in a quarter-mile. Is it the traditional M4->ke4183 or the futuristic i8?->ke4622 Despite their vastly different powertrains, both cars are more similar than you’d think. They both weigh the same. Their 0-to-60-mph sprint times are close to identical. One has power. The other has four-wheel-drive. It’s really to close to call!

Rix and Marriage prove as much at the conclusion of their drag race. I’m not going to spoil the winner here because it’s better if you watch if for yourselves. Here’s what I will tell you: it was close. Top Gear
