A lot of new cars have make debut the past thew months. But which one is the most significant one? Which one can satisy every taste and need?

Car and Driver has made a list with top ten most significant 2007 cars. And the list shows that the inexpensive (but not cheap) small cars are proliferating.

Top ten most significant 2007 cars

  1. Chrysler Sebring - The 2007 Sebring marks a bold departure from the bland styling of the old model that, although retouched and updated, remained all too similar to the first Sebring from the mid-nineties.
  2. Lexus LS460L - Lexus redesigned its flagship sedan and added this long-wheelbase version to compete directly with BMW’s stretched 7-series and Mercedes-Benz’s spacious S-Class.
  3. Infiniti G35 - All-new sheetmetal that doesn’t really look all-new riding atop a revised platform; that’s the 2007 Infiniti G35 sedan. Of course, huge changes weren’t needed, so the similarity to the last model is welcome.
  4. Toyota Camry - For 2007, America’s best-selling car gets stylish new duds that will likely keep it at the top. Consumers will appreciate the seven standard airbags, and a base price starting at just $19,000.
  5. Nissan Altima - The Altima is Nissan’s best-selling model, and the fourth best-selling car in the U.S., so the new model is not a radical departure from the old. Based on an all-new, stiffer platform, the 2007 Altima wears sheetmetal that many will mistake for the old threads that made it a (relative) hit.
  6. Saturn Aura - Saturn’s first foray into bigger-kid toyland shares much with the European Opel Vectra, but its interior and powertrains more closely mirror another relative: the Pontiac G6.
  7. BMW 335i - The coupe version of the latest 3-series is gorgeous. Then there’s its engine, a twin-turbo 3.0-liter that separates the 335i from lesser 3-series coupes, and an engine we can’t wait to sample in a 335i sedan.
  8. Mini Cooper - Exactly how do you redesign retro? The answer seems to be that you don’t. The 2007 Mini Cooper is indeed an all-new model, but it looks nearly identical to the outgoing car.
  9. Nissan Versa - Nissan’s new Versa competes in part of a growing group of upright econocars proving that frugality and fun are not entirely incompatible.
  10. Volkswagen Eos - An all-new model, the Volkswagen Eos four-seat folding hardtop can be had for a mere $28,620. At that price, the Eos offers more trunk space with its top stowed than the competing Pontiac G6 has with the top up and the full trunk available.
