The 2022 Toyota Tundra came out a few months ago with an insane amount of changes. The Japanese truck is known for its tough build and reliability, and those were a couple of reasons why the automaker was able to milk it for 14 long years without any major change. But, the company brought in the new Tundra for the 2022 model year with a lot of changes on the outside, inside, and under the hood. Just when it looked like the hype behind the truck had gone down, Toyota decided to do something about it.

The automaker revealed a new flagship trim in the already crowded lineup called the ‘Capstone’. It will be the apex trim in Tundra’s portfolio and is expected to start at over $60,000. The top-grade will arrive in Spring this year.

What’s Special About The Toyota Tundra Capstone?

The Capstone will be placed above the Platinum and the 1794 trims. It will be offered in just one body style – CrewMax with a 5.5-foot bed. The Tundra Capstone will come in six exterior shades - Wind Chill Pearl, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Celestial Silver Metallic, Midnight Black Metallic, Supersonic Red, and Blueprint.

The changes on the outside include:

- Unique grille with chrome mesh

- 22-inch chrome wheels

- Power running boards

- Chrome mirror caps and trim accents

- Chrome ‘TUNDRA’ badge

The cabin follows a black and white theme overall. You get semi-aniline leather upholstered perforated seats. There is a Dark American Walnut open-pore finish on the center console and passenger side dash. Toyota has also placed a ‘Capstone’ logo here which lights up when the doors are opened. Sweet!

A 14-inch touchscreen system graces the center console. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The other niceties you get here are:

- 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster

- 10-inch head-up display

- Acoustic glass on the front doors for sound deadening

- Panoramic moonroof

- 12-speaker JBL audio system

- Available 360-degree camera

The 2022 Toyota Tundra’s 3.5-liter V-6 is available in different states of tune, but the Capstone can only be had with the hybrid setup. There is a motor-generator that assists this engine. It is placed within the bell housing between the engine and the transmission.

You can also the Tundra Capstone with an Adaptive Variable Suspension and load-leveling rear height control air suspension. The maximum towing and payload capacities are rated at 10,340- and 1,485 pounds, respectively.
