• Two 2024 BMW X6 M Facelift Prototypes Caught On The Streets Of Germany

There are still no details on any rear updates

BMW is testing the facelift versions of both the X5 and X6 for months now, and we managed to spot them quite a few times now, including around the famous Nurburgring track.

Today, the facelift version of the X6 M was caught testing again, and our spy photographers managed to spot not one, but two different prototypes out on the streets of Germany.

Changes on both the M models will be minimal and they will be limited to just the front fascia. The headlights will be slimmer and they will get new-style DRLs. The grille will most likely keep the same size, but it will get some design changes made to the inserts. The front bumper will also bring a few updates.

As for the rear, none of the prototypes caught testing so far show any updates made in here, but this doesn’t necessarily mean there won’t be any. It could simply mean we are still looking at some prototypes in their early stages of development and more changes could come later.

The interior will also offer a small list of updates, with the biggest improvement being the BMW’s latest iDrive 8 infotainment system.

The biggest update for both the X5 and X6 models, both standard and M versions should be happening under the hood. Rumors suggest that BMW will switch over from the current S63 engine to the new S68 V-8 - which will firstly be used in the production version XM where it should deliver around 750 horsepower. If BMW will indeed make this switch, it means that the facelift X5 and X6 M will only be offered in Competition versions. These rumors should come as no surprise, as the S68 engine is also capable of supporting plug-in hybrid technology - and BMW is trying to electrify all its lineup. Expect the plug-in version of this powertrain to offer around 100-150 ponies more than the mild-hybrid version.

Expect the facelift X5 and X6 to be launched sometime in 2023, with sales to begin in 2024.
