Ultimate factories: Porsche premiers tonight on the National Geographic Channel
If you are a fan of seeing the way that things come together, then the National Geographic Channel’s Ultimate Factories series is right up your alley. The month long series will feature the making of a number of our favorite cars including the Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV, the Rolls Royce Phantom, the Chevrolet Camaro, and the Porsche 911.
This week they are going inside to infamous House of Porsche to see how one of the world’s most popular sports cars, the Porsche 911, goes from bare sheet metal to one of the most influential and recognizable performance machines of all time. Starting off at the Zuffenhausen factory in Stuttgart, Germany, a historical industrial monument in which Porsche cars have been conceived since the early 1930s. The program will examine the factory’s innovative system of lifts, elevators and bridges, which conveys car bodies 50 feet above a public highway and facilitates the production of one of the world’s most iconic rear engine speed machines.
