Audi is preparing to debut the new A6 at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show but, as is often the case with models as high-profile as the A6, leaked photos tend to ruin the surprise. Fortunately, there aren’t that many surprises to hold on to because the leaked photos of the new Audi A6 reveal, well, the new Audi A6. We’re saying “new,” by the way, strictly on a technical basis because, judging by the photos, there’s nothing overly exciting about what we see here.

Updated 02/28/2018 @ 04:00 - Audi dropped full details of the new A6 prior to its Geneva Debut. Check out the quick details below.

Detials About the New 2019 Audi A6

It shouldn’t come as a shock, but hours after the leaked images came out, Audi dropped the load on the new A6. The good news is that the sedan has a lot of good things working for it. The bad news is that it still looks like the same old Audi.

First, the good news. The new A6’s interior is a huge improvement over its predecessor. One of the most obvious highlights are the two digital screens that are stacked one on top of the other. Up top is the 10.1-inch MMI infotainment screen that can also be found on the A7. Directly below it is another 9.8-inch display that is used for a variety of functions, including climate control. The interior also features Audi’s virtual cockpit, highlighted by a prominent 12.3-inch display and a new steering wheel. Interior space is also improved on the new A6, something that should go over well with prospective customers.

Now, about the sedan’s exterior. I will admit that there are some improvements in this area compared to the last A6 that was on the market. It’s larger than its predecessor, but not by much. The headlights also get a different configuration, and the Singleframe grille is as prominent as ever. The rear section of the A6 also receives a chrome strip that runs the width of the car, connected by the taillights. Audi says that the new A6 will also come with 14 different colors, seven of which will be all-new for the 2019 model.

Those are all positive points, but they still can’t mask the perception that the new A6 doesn’t separate itself visually from other Audis, specifically the A7. Granted, this is a normal occurrence in the auto industry. It’s why the phrase “design language” is used so often to pertain to a lineup’s style inspiration. All that’s fair, but the new A6 could’ve been better aesthetically if it had its own distinct styling cues. The new A6 accomplishes that in some regard, but not to the full extent that we can celebrate for it.
