We've seen the upcoming Porsche 911 GT3 on and around the Nurburgring numerous times in recent months, but many of its key features were hidden under camo. Now, someone leaked a bunch of official shots revealing the 911 GT3's profile and most of the interior. The leak also means that the hardcore sports car will probably be unveiled soon.
A New Image of the Porsche 992 911 GT3 Has Surfaced
The image you see here was taken in California by @Ari_novian23 and shared to Facebook by DDW Partners. Apparently, Porsche thought they could hide it in plain sight, but we all know better.
The 992-gen Porsche 911 GT3 is a familiar sight
The upcoming 911 GT3 wasn't much of a mystery. Porsche is following the usual recipe by adding track-inspired features to the existing 911. So it's basically a 911 Carrera body with modifications to the front and rear section.
The front end isn't very visible here, but highlights will include larger bumper vents and a pronounced splitter than extends toward the front wheel arches. The profile is basically that of the 911 Carrera, but with revised side skirts and larger, lighter wheels. The suspension was lowered to improve agility at high speeds.
The profile shot also reveals the GT3's rear wing, which appears to be a bit smaller than the outgoing model. But it's not only the size, but also the layout that changed here.
Our first look at the interior
This leak gives us our first look at the 911 GT3's cabin, but there aren't any surprises to talk about. As expected, the GT3 is heavily based on the 911 Carrera and Turbo models, sporting the new digital instrument cluster that projects four gauges around the main rev counter. But it features GT3-specific graphics and shows more performance-oriented numbers than usual. The 911 GT3 is obviously fitted with Porsche's latest infotainment system through a 10.9-inch touchscreen display.
We can also see a new multi-function, three-spoke steering wheel wrapped in leather, which comes standard, and a pair of bucket seats with integrated headrests. The seats seem to be made of carbon-fiber, so we're probably looking at an optional extra. The rear section includes a race-spec roll cage, just like the outgoing model. The car in the photo features blue contrast stitching on the seats, center console, and door panels.
The Porsche 911 GT3 will remain naturally aspirated
The output of the 4.0-liter engine is unknown, but it will generate more than the old 911 GT3, rated at 493 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of twist.
Given that the previous GT3 was as powerful as the GT3 RS before it, the 992 GT3 could match the output of the old 991.2 GT3 RS. This means that it could come with 513 horsepower and 347 pound-feet of twist on tap. Porsche could also upgrade the engine further, but don't expect it to deliver more than 525 horsepower.
The leaked shots confirm that the 911 GT3 will continue to feature a manual transmission, but a PDK will also be offered, most likely as a no-cost option.
