Following the reveal of the new Honda Civic Hatchback, we learned a few bits of important information about the Civic Si

While we’d love to tell you that it will be offered in hatchback form, sadly we cannot

Along with the discontinuation of the Civic coupe, Honda has also decided not to offer the Civic Si in hatchback form

This news was confirmed via Twitter by Honda Canada, and then confirmed later on by Honda U.S.

Looking beyond this, Honda also kept its word as Sport and Sport Touring trim levels will be available with an optional six-speed manual transmission

With the LX and sport trim, you get a 2.0-liter inline-four with 158 HP and 138 LB-FT

While the EX-L and Sport Touring trim will give you a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four with 180 HP and 177 lb-ft of torque.

LX and EX-L trim levels are sold exclusively with a CVT (CVT-equipped Sport and Sport Touring models come with paddle shifters)

If you’re waiting for the SI, we’re expecting the same turbo 1.5-liter engine to offer somewhere in the neighborhood of 230 HP – a 25-pony improvement

That model, according to leaked documents, could it dealers in October of 2021, but that has yet to be confirmed

If you’re waiting for the Civic Type R, which will be sold exclusively as a hatchback, you may have to wait until the 2023 model year.

There’s still potential for it to be a mild-hybrid, and the latest rumors suggest it could push out as much as 400 horsepower

If that’s the case, the Civic Si may gain a little extra power to help equalize the gap between the non-performance models and the Type R.
