Valentino Rossi is best known for being a seven-time MotoGP world champion, so his racing credentials on anything involving two wheels is pretty much unmatched.

But what happens when you put Rossi behind the wheel of a vehicle with four wheels? Well, we found out when the Italian speedster participated in a PR stunt with Kyle Bush that was organized by Monster Energy at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Rossi driving Busch’s Toyota Camry NASCAR racer seems like an odd team up, but anybody who knows Rossi understands the talent of this man and how he can handle anything you put in front of him, including a 650-horsepower V-8 stock car.

After a few practice laps, Rossi gunned the car and even posted an impressive top speed of 185 mph, good enough to put him in the middle of the field. Now, that’s pretty impressive.

Valentino Rossi Drives Kyle Busch’s Stock Car

Valentino Rossi

"It was so cool to understand the feeling! I have a lot of friends from Europe and Italy who follow NASCAR. It looks like it’s a completely different type of racing than what we do in Europe and I expected something more like this – exciting, high speed and a great feeling in the corner,” said Valentino Rossi. “In the bank you have a lot of grip, so you are glued on the racetrack. It was great, I enjoyed it a lot. I love driving the race car, and I always have, so it was exciting to drive a NASCAR," he added.

Kyle Busch

Kyle Busch was quite impressed with Rossi’s performance. "He started out a little slow, which is fine, but every lap he picked it up a lot. He got to where he was running some competitive lap speeds – times that would put him in the top-15 in Nationwide Series practice. That’s pretty good for a guy in his first start, who is just coming over and getting used to things and someone that is used to driving on two wheels," Busch said.

Kirby’s first exposure into the world of automobiles happened when he caught Knight Rider on television as a five-year old boy. David Hasselhoff didn’t leave much of an impression on him (that happened later on in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby remains convinced that he will one day own a car with the same ‘spirit’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrosity). He doesn't know when that will be, but until then, he’s committed to expressing his love for KITT, and all cars for that matter, here at TopSpeed.  Read More
