The new BMW M3 has been around for almost a year now, roaming mostly undisturbed in its segment, with the Mercedes-AMG C63 not yet available in showrooms as of October 2014. We've seen the M3 hooned by Chris Harris, driven on the spectacular Spa-Francorchamps track, and on the set of "Mission: Impossible 5." We know it's capable of sub-four second 0-to-60-mph sprints and that sometimes it acts like a sports car,->ke506 although it comes in a four-door package. Have we missed anything? Yes, we have yet to see the sedan on the drag strip. That ends now, as an M3 owner on Bimmerpost took his bone-stock M3 to Atco Raceway for some quarter-mile fun.

And you'd better sit down for this one, this particular M3 is quite the fast sedan. Although all of its internals and all four tires are stock, the Bimmer's best run stood at 11.66 seconds at 119.24 mph. That is damn impressive for a car equipped with a DCT and 425 horsepower at its disposal. There's is a catch though; the BMW->ke178 runs on 103 unleaded octane, which is clearly responsible for shaving about a second off clock. There's also the fact that Atco is known for being a fast, sticky track. The result is fascinating nonetheless, as it makes the M3 almost as quick as a 2014 Corvette Stingray, which ran an 11.4-second quarter-mile on the same strip.

Watch the warmup and the 11.66-second run in the video above. There's a Fox-Body Mustang->ke428 lineup up with the M3, but it doesn't stand a chance at 14.8 seconds.
