The Ford Mustang->ke428 and the Chevrolet Camaro->ke248 have been competing against one another for nearly 50 years, and with a brand-new Mustang coming to showrooms in late 2014, this battle is about to enter a new era. While we'll have to wait for one more year to find out how the sixth-gen 'Stang stacks up against the upcoming Camaro, the folks from Motor Trend decided to compare Ford's new muscle car->ke507 to the fifth-generation Camaro, due to retire in 2015. Not exactly a fair comparison considering one vehicle is brand-new while the other one is five years old, but Motor Trend's findings are somewhat surprising. For this head-to-head, Motor Trend used a Mustang GT equipped with the Performance Package and a Camaro SS fitted with the 1LE bundle.

As far as specs go, the Mustang GT boasts a certain advantage. It's 72 pounds lighter and slightly smaller than the Camaro SS 1LE, plus its V-8 engine comes with an extra nine horses. On the other hand, the Chevy's 6.2-liter eight-banger generates 20 pound-feet of torque more than the Mustang's 5.0-liter.

So, which one wins? You'll have to check out the video to find that out. All I'll tell you is that Motor Trend definitely gave both muscle cars a fair shake.
