None of us, with exception of Ford, know what is really going on with the Shelby GT500 Mustang. The consensus says that Ford will replace the Shelby name starting with the next-gen Mustang and likely replace it with a revived Cobra model.
Well, regardless of what Ford does with the range-topping Mustang in the next generation, it is obvious that its engineers are working on something hot. In the above video you see a lucky man that so happened upon a next-gen Mustang on public roads with a rather throaty engine note. The assumption is — and I agree — that this is a hopped-up variant of the Mustang and likely the Shelby GT500/SVT Cobra or whatever Ford chooses to name it.
Could this simply be a tester for the 2015 Mustang GT? Sure, it could be, but that would be one hell of an exhaust note for a GT Mustang, and that quad-exhaust system simply doesn’t strike me as something Ford would put on the Mustang GT.
Regardless of what version of the Mustang this is, we do love seeing spy videos of the new `Stang.
