Top Speed had the opportunity to attend an exclusive preview of Aston Martin’s latest full sized drop top speed machine, with the coach builder’s Director of Design Mareck Reichman. The DBS Volante debuted in Geneva this past March, but made its U.S. debut right here in Miami, kicking everything off with one heck of 007 inspired party.

The Voltane is powered by the familiar 6.0 Liter V12 making 510 HP, the interior is made up of no less than seven cow hides and audio is superbly handled by the the Bang & Olufsen system. Mr. Reichman was also kind enough to tell us a little bit about the special timepiece by Jaeger-LeCoultre.

When Jaeger-LeCoultre came into the scene, I think that its already enough to establish that the DBS Volante is more than just a sports car. It’s also luxury. Jaeger-LeCoultre is one of the best watch manufacturer based in Switzerland.

Watching the video, I just thought that the DBS Volante is overrated. The Porsche SP600 Convertible is still the way to go. It has a punchy 600 hp that would drive anyone mad! The DBS Volante can only go as much as 0-60mph in a respectable 4.3 seconds while my beauty SP600 Convertible can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in only 3.3 seconds. I hope were not just talking about designs. We have to talk about specs too!

Aside from radiator, water pump, engine block, hoses, fan and radiator cap, I think that Mareck Reichman is right when he detailed the cooling system of the DBS Volante. In this way, the one who drives it would not be too cautious about the temperature as shown in her thermostat.

Aston’s DoD has made a lot of astounding contributions to the automotive industry. He is the man behind Rolls-Royce Phantom and the current generation Range Rover. So I think that would be enough to tell us how neat and well thought of a car Volante is.

The DBS Volante is one of the best cars under the Aston Martin. It’s probably next to the Ferrari. The 2009 model had carbon fiber diet plus 6.0-litre V12 which equates to an amazing 512 hp.
