We just recently got a full look at the all-new, 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata in all of its glory and though I was initially in shock from its new look, it has since grown on me. In fact, it has now gotten to the point where I actually think it may be an upgrade over the NC generation, but I will reserve my final judgement for when the drivetrain information rolls out. In order to truly understand how the Miata got to this point, we need to step back and really dive deep into the history of the MX-5->ke1185. Enter in two experts in the field of Mazda roadsters, Bob Hall and Dean Case, and you stand to learn all the information on the Miata's history that you care to know.

Bob Hall was a part of the team that was tasked with designing the NA Miata roadster->ke1418, and despite his team's version not being warmly received on paper, it was a huge success once it made it to the clay-model phase.

Bob and Dean went on to talk about the Mazda->ke53 Miata's first true rival, the doomed-from-the-beginning Mercury Capri, and the why British Racing Green and yellow were initially axed from the color options. The video goes on for nearly 22 minutes, so there is a ton more insider information passed on. This is definitely a must-watch for any Miata fan.
