It’s a battle worthy of the main event at Wrestlemania. The Blue Angel versus the Blue Devil. You couldn’t script it any better than this, could you?

At face value, the names of the two protagonists are about as epic as you can get. That is until you get a glimpse of what the Blue Angel really is.

In one corner you have the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, codenamed “Blue Devil”. This car is one of the fastest, most powerful, and most expensive vehicle General Motors has ever built. Suffices to say, when it comes to the General, it can’t get any better than this. Motor Trend editor Arthur St. Antoine even asks the question, “Can anything keep up with Chevrolet’s awesome, utterly unbelievable Blue Devil?”

Well, how about the Blue Angel? In case, you didn’t know what it is, it’s actually an F/A-18 Hornet fighter jet.

Check out the video and watch St. Antoine try his luck in beating the Blue Angel in a drag race using the Blue Devil. Frankly speaking, we really don’t think the Corvette has a snowball’s chance in hell of actually beating an F/A-18 in a race. But it does make for good viewing, and you can even watch St. Antoine as he takes a ride in one of the Angels.

I remember as a kid that ’80s auto mags loved these comparisons: Corvette vs jet, helicopter vs mustang, let’s take a Zamboni for a test drive. Sigh. I just can’t get into these compares, it just seems like rehash. Maybe after my first cup on coffee I’ll feel better about this one, but I doubt it.
