Barn finds are the stuff of dreams around these parts. Pulling an old vehicle out of its forgotten hiding place and putting it back on the road is a rewarding project that yanks on the heartstrings of nostalgia. Well Dirt Every Day did just that with an old 1961 Willys Wagon.

As the story goes, the last owner used the Wagon in high school until the swapped Ford V-8 blew up on the way to the beach. It was then parked for 37 years. Luckily the owner now lives next door to David Freiburger, the Editor-in-Chief at HotRod Magazine and co-host of Motor Trend’s RoadKill. Freiburger alerted Dirt Every Day’s host Fred Williams about the find and the rest is history.

It’s also what the video’s all about.

Not to spoil the fun, but Williams works his magic on the Wagon with help from several shops and parts suppliers. A used General Motors 4.8-liter LS V-8 replaces the old Ford big-block and a new set of BFGoodrich Mud Terrain KM2 tires give the Willys a new look.

There’s some great off-roading towards the end, so give the whole video a watch.
