EVO’s Chris Harris is no stranger to driving test cars and providing his two cents worth on what he thinks of them. Call him lucky for having such a neat job, but the man knows what he’s talking about so his word carries some weight to it.

After being invited by BMW->ke178 to test drive the new 1-Series M Coupe, Harris flies from London to Munich to meet the prototype 1-Series M Coupe. Before doing so, he runs down a list of things that he expects to see in the car, things that should come standard to cars that have the ‘M’ badge on it.

After all the checks and testing are done on the car, Harris walks away with a very favorable impression of it, even going so far as saying that BMW is making a car that has a really good package and one that M-Series->ke546 enthusiasts will surely enjoy.

Now that Harris has bared his opinion on the baby 1M Coupe that’s scheduled to hit dealerships sometime in the middle of next year, all that remains is for BMW to come out with a sticker price for the car. We don’t have a peg on how much it’s going to cost, but we’re optimistic that the automaker won’t price a lot of people out with the latest BMW to wear that exclusive ‘M’ badge.

The M1 will be powered by the same motor that you'll find in the Z4 sDrive35is and to recap, that's an twin-turbocharged inline-six with 340 horsepower. This wonderful powerplant is connected to a six-speed manual transmission, none of that stupid flappy paddle nonsense. Is it possible that the M1 will be more engaging than the M3->ke2366?
