Cars like the 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale Aperta don’t come very often. When there’s an opportunity to drive one, you’re not supposed to let the opportunity pass you by. Evo’s Jethro Bovingdon had that chance recently, and like the true automotive nerd that he is, he didn’t let Mother Nature’s stormy wrath get in the way of taking the 458 Speciale Aperta for a drive around Italy’s wet and twisty roads.

The scenario was less than ideal, as the torrential downpour created a challenging driving environment from the very beginning. Anybody who’s ever driven a supercar->ke177 with rain water angrily smacking the windshield knows what it’s like.

But Bovingdon didn’t seem to be fazed by the circumstances surrounding his time with the 458 Speciale Aperta. If anything, the heavy rains actually became an ideal time to showcase the supercar’s traction-control system, which worked beautifully in preventing the 458 Speciale Aperta from spinning wildly as it pounded those wet roads.

But defying Mother Nature’s wrath always has its limits. Such was the case during this run when the heavy rain and the ensuing fog made driving the 458 Speciale Aperta to its fullest capabilities became completely impossible. It certainly didn’t help Evo’s cause when its cameras started malfunctioning because of the rain.

In the end, this wasn’t the video->ke278 Evo wanted to showcase, but it certainly was one that might have ended up becoming more memorable than the usual killer noise and breathtaking action we’ve become used to.
