Video: Fifth Gear drives the Volkswagen Golf GTI MkVI

The guys from Fifth Gear got behind the wheel of the new Volkswagen Golf GTI to see what the all new people’s hot hatch is all about. The sporty three door is powered by a 2.0 Liter TSI four cylinder engine that delivers 210 HP and can sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in 7.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 148 MPH. However straight line speed is not what the Rabbit it all about, it is more about being able to carry loads of speed through the corners and have fun while doing it.

Its nice to know that this car is not an aftermarket version. Well, at least VW
have proven that they can build an high performing car!

Wow! I like the sportiness of this car both exterior and interior. It’s nice to know that this hatch doesn’t have a difficulty on the corner and most exciting part is that it generates 200 hp!

Great video! You can actually feel the stamina of this car. Good performance on its speed and I hope I can able to test it on the road.

I just bought a 2009 MKV GTI. I’m glad I did, as I really don’t like the look of the MKVI one. I’ll be curious to hear how it drives though.

Most forget or don’t know that the main reason was to cut down on the production time from a lengthy 40 hours. So there are now less parts requiring assembly. I also heard the body is to be more cheaply manufactured (not the interior, that’s got as boost) but can’t vouch for this. The new GTI has electronic LSD, more power, less emissions and better fuel consumption. So is hardly a minor face lift. (from a MK5 GTI owner who bought new just over a yr after launch and after 2.5 yrs has an old model!)

I never thought of this car before, but after watching this short video clip, I can’t help but want to have this in my garage.
