A few weeks ago, we let you know that a Camaro Z/28 lapped Nurburgring in 7:37.47, making it the fastest Camaro at the `Ring.

With a Camaro achieving this feat, should we be surprised that Ford decided to release a video of its resident muscle car -- the Shelby GT500 -- lapping the ring in an impressive time? We think not, but this video has an interesting back story.

According to SVT Performance, this particular video hit their inbox after they asked Ford for some videos of the GT500 testing on various tracks. It looks like this video "accidentally" made its way into the email, as Ford has not revealed the GT500's Nurburgring time.

The unofficial timer in the video shows that the GT500 lapped the `Ring in less than 7:40. Of course, this time does not make it faster than the Z/28, but it certainly makes it faster than the Camaro ZL1, which lapped the same ring in 7 minutes and 41 seconds.

We're sure that Ford will soon make an announcement regarding this video, but until then, enjoy the video!
