Mazda->ke53 is reinventing its entire design theme for its future vehicles and, with the recently unveiled Shinari concept, will mark a new chapter in the Japanese automaker’s design history.

Sleeker, sexier, and totally more aggressive than any design they’ve ever come out with, the Kodo: Soul of Motion design language was born out of a collaboration among Mazda’s studios in Japan, Germany, and the US.

According to Ikuo Madea, head of Mazda’s design division, the Kodo: Soul of Motion theme is a step in a new direction for the company, one that would, in Maeda’s own words, “play in the same group as BMW->ke178 and Audi->ke14”.

“This design will lead to the next generation of Mazda design and will lead to other elements,” he adds.

While it may still be a little premature for Mazda to throw the gauntlet down on the likes of Audi and BMW, we applaud the Japanese automaker’s aggressive approach with the new design theme. In the video, you can see exactly what kind of prospective vehicles the manufacturer has played around with under the new concept.

And if the Shinari concept, which they released recently in Milan, is an indication of things to come, then consider our curiosities piqued by the possibilities of this new Kodo: Soul of Motion design language.
