The McLaren 600LT is one of the most awaited debut models at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed, and the supercar made quite an entrance with a good ‘ol fashioned tire-burning donut session. While some people will scoff at the car and say that it’s just a 570S with a power boost, the 600LT is actually a lot more than what it’s being given credit for.

According to McLaren, it’s only the fourth McLaren in more than 20 years to be classified as a long tail, following in the steps paved by the other Longtail alumni like the 675LT and the OG of all LTs, the F1 GTR. The 600LT is also stripped down to weigh just 1,247 kilos or about 2,750 pounds. That’s 200 pounds lighter than the 570S, which, when you combine with its 592-horsepower output, represents massive performance improvements over any member of McLaren’s entry-level Sports Series family. Think the 570 is fast? The 600LT beats it at launch with a 0-to-62 mph time of just 2.9 seconds, a figure that also happens to be a nip faster than the much-more-powerful Ferrari 488 GTB. Put in an open field with a clean road, and it can go up to 204 mph, a staggering number that’s well within the realm of supercar territory.

And yes, as the video shows, the McLaren 600LT is more than just its looks and enthralling top speed capabilities. It can also bake some serious donuts on the track that would be delicious if they weren’t made out of burnt Pirelli P Zero Trofeo rubber.

That’s the good news about the McLaren 600LT. The bad news is that production of the car will only last a full year. It’s unclear how many models McLaren plans to build, but the specific production timetable points to a limited run. The 600LT is priced at $240,000. Should any of you try your luck at getting one, you’re also getting a Pure McLaren Road Owner Track Day experience as part of the package.
