In our days, lots of makers are offering technology that can assist drivers in dangerous situations. However, not many drivers actually know how to use these intelligent systems in such a manner to avoid a crash.

Mercedes on the other hand, wants to explain to its customers how its "Intelligent Drive" package operates and unveiled a collection of videos that outline each feature of the system. Mercedes Intelligent Drive package includes: BAS PLUS, DISTRONIC PLUS, Active Lane Keeping Assist and PRE-SAFE Braking.

The first one, BAS PLUS, includes a combination of stereo cameras and short-, medium- and long-range radar, and will help detect any danger on the road. DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist on the, other hand, maintains the distance between you and the car in front of you when cruise control is engaged and, in conjunction with Benz’s electric power steering, helps keep you in the center of your lane. When a collision is detected it audibly alerts the driver and initiates up to 40-percent braking power.

The Active Lane Keeping Assist helps detect if surrounding traffic provides any dangerous situations for you. The last one, PRE-SAFE Braking predicts the possibility of an accident and, in combination with BAS PLUS, can bring the car to a complete halt from speeds over 50 km/h (31 mph).

Hit the jump to learn how these impressive features work.

It is nice that the Mercedes has a way of explaining their good technology in terms of video. It is good idea to inform the drivers how their technolog could help them to keep them safe with enhancing brakes, etc.
