We know we’ve harped about the continuous delay of Gran Turismo 5 and for the most part, our rants have been completely justified. After all, it’s been over five years since the last Gran Turismo 4 hit the shelves so it’s been a pretty long wait and the uncertainty on when GT5 will finally be released has kept us anxious and on the edge for a while now.

But now, it seems, the delays are becoming a little more justified, especially after seeing the latest addition to GT5: NASCAR.

The addition of NASCAR to GT5 is a landmark of sorts because it’s the first time America’s Favorite Car Racing Series will make an appearance in the Gran Turismo franchise.

According to Gran Turismo founder and Polyphony Digital president Kazunori Yamauchi, the addition of NASCAR to GT5 was a long time coming and it represents the franchise’s efforts in incorporating all sorts of motorsports and racing styles into the game.

“Nascar is the heart of motorsports in America and holds a special place with the hearts of many Americans,” said Yamauchi. “So I’m very excited to add Nascar to Gran Turismo 5 for everyone to experience."

If you’re still having trouble believing that NASCAR is in fact included in Gran Turismo 5, then just watch the new teaser video and see it for yourself.

Honestly, I could put this on TV, and my mother would think this is live action. Hell, if I walked by the TV and saw it, at first glance I probably would think so too.

Racing is great. While this looks nice iRacing is as close as you’re gonna get to real-life driving

That will be great for the game then. There will be more options for the player and surely, because of the images and previews that comes from the game, a lot of NASCAR fan will surely be addicted to it. I do wonder though if it also has some shots of Danica Patrick like that of Sports Illustration.
