We know we’ve harped about the continuous delay of Gran Turismo 5 and for the most part, our rants have been completely justified. After all, it’s been over five years since the last Gran Turismo 4 hit the shelves so it’s been a pretty long wait and the uncertainty on when GT5 will finally be released has kept us anxious and on the edge for a while now.

But now, it seems, the delays are becoming a little more justified, especially after seeing the latest addition to GT5: NASCAR.

The addition of NASCAR to GT5 is a landmark of sorts because it’s the first time America’s Favorite Car Racing Series will make an appearance in the Gran Turismo franchise.

According to Gran Turismo founder and Polyphony Digital president Kazunori Yamauchi, the addition of NASCAR to GT5 was a long time coming and it represents the franchise’s efforts in incorporating all sorts of motorsports and racing styles into the game.

“Nascar is the heart of motorsports in America and holds a special place with the hearts of many Americans,” said Yamauchi. “So I'm very excited to add Nascar to Gran Turismo 5 for everyone to experience."

If you’re still having trouble believing that NASCAR is in fact included in Gran Turismo 5, then just watch the new teaser video and see it for yourself.
