Video: Photographer stands inches away from flying dragster

Either this man has no regard for his own life or he’s got balls of steel.
Andy Willsheer, a British photographer in attendance at a drag racing event at the Pomona Raceway in California got an up-close look at an out-of-control dragster that crashed inches away from where he was standing.

The dragster, which was being driven by Steve Gasparelli, hit a patch of oil as soon as it launched at the start line sending spinning out of control and slamming into a steel barrier where Willsheer was standing just inches away.

Amazingly, the photographer barely moved from his spot while snapping away at the flying dragster. As far as Gasparelli is concerned, he managed to escape the crash unscathed, which we’re pretty happy about.

But Wilsheer takes our kudos here for continuing his job despite a dragster headed straight towards him.

Photographers are very courageous. Some of them go to war, some of them climbs weird places just to get their stories. If you watch rally races, there are times when photographers even stand in front of the racing cars. Pretty dangerous as well.

You will never know what will happen" and thinking if that dragster was alive after that scary accident happened on that venue. Also lucky for the bastard photographer that he managed to take a few shots before that raging car will drag him to hell.

poor camera man, dang that one’s close, good thing that the barricade done it’s job and the chassis lock didn’t break.

What the hell, drag racing is known for being dangerous sports. good thing that no one is seriously injured.
