Red Bull Racing driver Daniel Ricciardo made a good showing for himself in his home race over the weekend, even if his second place finish was eventually thrown out by a irregularities with the fuel flow into his Renault engine. But all isn’t lost for Ricciardo because Renault’s appealing the decision, and on a completely different take that isn’t remotely related to his Formula One career, Ricciardo also got the treat of a lifetime when he participated in a true one-of-a-kind "race" against, of all things, an F-18 Hornet.

Ok, it wasn’t so much as an actual race, as it was a demonstration of the sheer uniqueness of the RB10 and the F-18 in their respective environments. Ricciardo and F/A-18 Hornet pilot, Michael Keightley, each take turns describing the roads they took to get to where they are now and the similarities between both guys are pretty striking.

Although different in description as far as their day jobs are concerned, both Ricciardo and Keightley seem to appreciate the fact that they’re in control of two of the fastest vehicles in the world.

But here’s the most impressive part: both are pretty darn good at what they do.
