In the modern era, cars are all tested in controlled conditions with all of the variables that can affect performance well within the control of the engineer. Now, that’s no fun, is it?

Cadillac->ke18 has bucked this trend with its new ATS, which offers up awesome performance, stunning handling and superior fuel economy. Yeah, this certainly isn’t your granddad’s Eldorado. Above, you can see a video that shows you just how Cadillac put the ATS->ke3619 through some serious testing.

The ATS hit the Dadès Gorge in the Atlas mountains and tackled its 100 switchback turns to test out the ATS’s Brembo brakes; took on the Circuit de Monaco at Monte Carlo->ke993 to squeeze the maximum 272 horsepower from its turbocharged 2.0-liter engine; faced the intense “living winds” of Patagonia with its sleek aerodynamics; and even hit the Guoliang Tunnel in China at high speeds to prove its Magnetic Ride Control suspension is capable of handling its ever-changing road surface with grace. The ATS passed each and every onel with flying colors.

This is only part of the reason that it was voted the 2013 North America Car of the Year. It also receives high marks because of its sleek and functional design and top-level luxury->ke505.
