For the better part of 40 years, Valentino Balboni had one of the most envious jobs in the auto industry. As the head test driver of Lamborghini, Balboni got the chance – or should we say, privilege – to drive just about every Lamborghini->ke44 that came out of the company’s production line.

Now that he’s semi-retired, Lamborghini gave their test driver the ultimate tribute, creating a special edition Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 and naming it after him. The limited run Gallardo->ke375 – only 250 units have been made - packs a 5.3-liter V10 engine that carries a top speed of 199 mp/h and a 0-60 time of just under 4 seconds.

In this video, Balboni takes one off his ‘named-after-him’ Gallardos out for a spin and while he’s doing so, he talks about the development of the car and how he managed to get himself in the position to have Lamborghini build a special-edition Gallardo in his name.
