Talk about a stunt that’s one for the ages.

We knew the art of drifting required insane amounts of skill and fearlessness. We also knew that Vaughn Gittin Jr. is one of the best in the business at drifting.

But what we never expected was for Gittin Jr. to show his skill AND his fearlessness in one of the nuttiest drifts we’ve seen in a long time.

Together with sponsor Monster Energy, Gittin Jr. has produced what will forever be called the "Fire Drift". While behind the wheel of his trusty Mustang RTR, Gittin Jr. navigates his drift-prepped muscle car around a series of fiery obstacles and explosions.

And if you’re thinking that those are Hollywood props, best keep an eye out towards the end of the video and check out the Mustang RTR’s bumper. Or whatever’s left of it.

This stunt definitely deserves a round of applause.

One of the meanest drift-spec Ford Mustangs we’ve seen in recent history, Vaughn Gittin Jr’s 2014 Mustang RTR is one for the books.

Not only does it come with full Monster Energy regalia to go with the carbon-fiber body and RTR appearance package, the drifter-slash-muscle car also comes powered by a 5.0-liter V-8 engine that produces a total of 845 horsepower, 45 ponies more than its predecessor.

Kirby’s first exposure into the world of automobiles happened when he caught Knight Rider on television as a five-year old boy. David Hasselhoff didn’t leave much of an impression on him (that happened later on in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby remains convinced that he will one day own a car with the same ‘spirit’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrosity). He doesn't know when that will be, but until then, he’s committed to expressing his love for KITT, and all cars for that matter, here at TopSpeed.  Read More
