Chevrolet ->ke199 has released a new video in which Patrick Herrmann, Technical Manager of Chevrolet Europe, shows how the new variable exhaust in the 2014 Corvette Stingray works and sounds in real-life situations.

Patrick then takes camera crews to his buddy Mario Müller‘s place who gives Harley-Davidson motorcycles the same sort of variable exhaust treatment. Mario calls his aftermarket creation a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde combination for its smooth, quite operation and – with the flick of a switch – vicious, loud roars of American iron.

Remember, the Stingray->ke4603’s variable exhaust isn’t just a pretty set of vocal chords, but an additional system that helps produce an extra five horsepower and five pound-feet of torque over the base exhaust system.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

The seventh-generation Chevrolet Corvette adopts the Stingray name from years past for 2014 and is powered by an all-new, 6.2-liter V-8 that kicks out 460 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 465 pound-feet of torque at 4,600 rpm.

Sixty mph come in a quick 3.8 seconds on its way to a 12.4-second quarter-mile time when equipped with the Z51 package.

Pricing for the 2014 Stingray ranges from $51,995 to $75,625, but expect to pay well over sticker price to grab one as orders are reportedly backed up for the next six months.
