Fast & Furious 9 is hitting theaters on May 20, 2020. That’s literally eight months from today. At this point, the production of the movie is in full swing — it’s now in its 13th week — and, according to a video posted by Vin Diesel on his Instagram account, it appears that we should brace ourselves for a #202020 hashtag at some point in the movie’s publicity tour.

After all, the franchise will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year, so the hashtag pretty much writes itself. Notwithstanding that little nugget, the Instagram video also revealed one of the most important stars of Fast 9. It’s not Vin Diesel or Michelle Rodriguez. It’s the heavily customized Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat that Diesel will be driving in the movie.

One look at the Charger in the video and you’ll know that it’s not your typical Dodge sports car. That’s one of the great things about the Fast and Furious franchise. Imaginations can run wild in all facets of the movie, and that extends to the actual cars that you’ll see in it.

I’m not going to beat around the bush. This is one saucy-looking wide-body Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat. You can tell by looking at it that this isn’t your typical Charger, at least as far as how it looks. It looks like it's wearing the front fascia of a non-widebody 2019 Charger Hellcat. Even the five-spoke lightweight wheels appear to have been grabbed from the mighty Demon muscle car. Of course, the wide body kit is pretty easy to spot, too.

Unfortunately, we don’t get a good look at the muscle car’s interior. I do suspect, given the nature of the Fast and Furious movies, that there will be a ton of modifications in that area of the wide-body Charger as well. A full roll cage should be expected and perhaps a NOS bottle or two.

Speaking of which, we also don’t know what’s sitting underneath the hood of this particular Charger. The best bet would be the same 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V-8 engine that you’ll find on any Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody. That engine produces 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, which should be good enough for Diesel, right? Right? Well, let’s just say we wouldn’t be surprised if more horses are lurking underneath that Challenger SRT Demon hood.

Speaking of the Challenger, it does appear that Diesel will have not one, but Fast and Furious vehicles in the movie. That or he’s handing over the keys to another heavily modified Dodge muscle car to Michelle Rodriguez. The blacked-out Challenger carries a lot of heavy modifications, too, which should tell you that it’s probably going to get its worth of mods by the time we get to watch the movie.

So, we now have three cars that are expected to be in Fast 9. There should be more appearing as production of the movie continues, but for now, we’re digging all three that we’ve seen so far. The custom-tuned Dodge pony cars, in particular, look like they’re about to rip someone’s head off.
