Volkswagen, Europe’s biggest automaker made an announcement that is planing to introduce 20 new models by 2011. According to VW’s Chairman Professor Dr. Martin Winterkorn, the rollout is part of company’s wide plan to increase its sales by 29% and build 8 million vehicles every year by 2011.

"The Group will significantly expand its model portfolio with this product rollout, and will occupy segments such as SUVs, vans and pickups more actively than before," VW said in the release.

Statistics showed that the 2007 sales revenue across the entire Volkswagen Group increased by 29%. Volkswagen Golf and Audi A4 has heavily contributed to this success but the introductions of the Skoda Fabia and Audi A5 also helped as well. Despite the good news Volkswagen Group is still loosing money in North America especially due to the depreciation of the Dollar to the Euro.

Regarding the very mediated problem about the Porsche takeover Dr. Martin Winterkorn denied the rumors of the complete takeover but confirmed that Vw is looking forward to even closer cooperation withe the German manufacturer.

"We hope very much that the current dispute between the Volkswagen works council and Porsche will soon be resolved amicably. We need clarity. We must deploy our teams and finally start controlling the game together." said Dr. Martin.
