Volkswagen has teased its latest entrant in the crowded crossover segment – the T-Cross – through a video and a few sketches. Out of the four core properties that the car signifies; namely Practical, Cool, Intuitive, and Safe, this was the first trailer depicting the 'cool' aspect. The car is indeed the T-Roc’s younger brother; drawing lots of styling cues and probably technology too. But what does it take to succeed when the competition is so damn strong? Well, spoil the customers for choice.

Take Your Pick From Their Color Palette

The German automaker has made sure the car is not boring and customers don’t go looking elsewhere for that extra pizzazz. For starters, the T-Cross will be available in 12 different exterior shades! What we feel makes this new kid on the block look butch is the set of wheels. They fill the wheel wells nicely, giving an illusion of it being bigger than it actually is. As for the interior, customers will be able to choose two-tone color schemes, further extending the level of customization. The cabin sketch looks like a straight lift from the 2018 Polo, which is not a bad thing. It's also going to sound sweet, thanks to the new Beats sound system.

Our Take

Volkswagen is playing it “cool” with the T-Cross, taking its own sweet time to launch the car. This segment is evolving at a brisk pace, so it works in the company’s favor to understand the customers’ needs and present them with a car that’ll resonate with them. The multitude of color options is a masterstroke already, so expect them to surprise us with similar options again. It is expected to go on sale shortly thereafter. Do you think the T-Cross can beat the Honda HR-V, the Ford EcoSport, and the newly launched Mazda CX-3? Let us know in the comments section below.
