Believe it or not, Volkswagen is the largest automaker in China by annual sales, part of which can likely be attributed to it’s two joint ventures: VW-FAW and VW-SAIC. They compete on the market as separate companies but Volkswagen has its fingers in both – a sort of double dipping, if you will. Despite the fact that Volkswagen, in general, has more models in China than we can count (seriously), it’s constantly churning out new products – the midsized SUV you see here is the next one.

This is expected to be sold under the VW-FAW joint venture, so it’s a bit odd that this thing was actually caught testing in Europe. Well, Sweden to be exact. Despite this, it’s not expected to be sold in Europe, or anywhere else for that matter, as it’s purely a China exclusive. Little is known about this specific model, but it was caught testing with the Volkswagen Tiguan, the model it will be largely based on, right down to the platform. It’s said to be a direct competitor for the Talagon X, which is sold under the VW-SAIC joint venture, so it could have the same powertrain options – a 2.0-liter inline-four or a 2.5-liter V-6.
