The German automaker Volkswagen stuck a chord with long time enthusiasts when they brought back the classic Scirocco sports coupe, and it is no wonder because the car features a sleeker shape than the hot hatch GTI and an even sportier front end. The only thing that the GTI has on the new Scirocco is its wonderful 2.0 Liter turbocharged four cylinder engine. However that is going to change soon because VW is going to equip both the new Scirocco and Eos with the same 210 HP TSI power plant that will bring the Sky Rocket's 0 to 60 MPH sprint down to just 6.9 seconds, however we aren't sure if it will make the new Scirocco get to the U.S. any faster.

The Golf GTI's well-known TSI engine with 2.0-litre displacement and 155 kW / 210 PS is now also available for the Scirocco and Eos. The greatest advantage: the engine, which replaces the previous top class engine, the 2.0 TSI (147 kW / 200 PS), reduces fuel consumption by up to nine percent.

The high-rev engine fulfils the EU5 emission standard and consumes a mere 7.4 litres per 100 kilometres (Eos: 7.2 litres / 100 km). Thus increased performance translates to lower fuel consumption: for the Scirocco, the fuel consumption decrease is up to five percent. In the Eos, the reduction is even more considerable: up to nine percent. In both vehicles, a torque of 280 newton metres is available between 1700 and 5000 rpm. The Scirocco can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds; the Eos requires just 7.8 seconds.

Both vehicles offer the choice between the standard 6-speed manual gearbox and the optional dual clutch gearbox (DSG). The cost of ownership for the Scirocco starts at 26,050 euros and for the Eos at 31,975 euros.
