After the market launch of the new S60 luxury sedan, Volvo has decided to also offer a convertible version based on it. Called the C60, the future convertible will be built on the same midsize EUCD platform from Ford, making it bigger than the current C70. It will be a cheaper alternative to models like the Audi A5->ke1188 and Mercedes-Benz E350. A final decision will be made next year on whether or not the C60 convertible will be produced even though Volvo->ke188 refuses to comment on these rumors.

Like with the S60 sedan, the C60 convertible will also be available with a variety of diesel and gas burning power plants spanning the range from an economical 115 HP DRIVe version to a high performance T6 turbocharged mill producing a maximum output of 304 HP and 324.5 lb-ft of torque. The C60 will deliver the same sprint time as the sedan, around 6.5 seconds with a top speed limited to 155 mph.

Stay tuned, we'll get back with more details as soon as we have them!
