What do you do when you have a new and gorgeous flagship vehicle? You shrink it to give the market a smaller and equally appealing product. That's exactly what Volvo did with the V90 wagon earlier this year, and now it's showcasing it at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. I'm talking about the new Volvo V60, which will take on the BMW 3 Series Touring, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Wagon, and the Audi A4 Avant in Europe.

2019 Volvo V60 Exterior Features

A close copy of the V90 but in a smaller package, the V60 is arguably the most modern looking compact wagon available right now. It has the same "Thor's hammer" headlamps and the big, rectangular front grille, but a slightly sportier rear end. The interior once again mimics the V90, but with different trim, steering wheel, and door panels. Despite these changes, the V60 is just as luxurious as its bigger sibling, offering leather upholstery in the more expensive trims and a state-of-the-art Sensus infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, 4G, and controllable via a tablet-style touchscreen.

2019 Volvo V60 Performance

Engine options are obviously similar. The gasoline range includes the turbocharged T4 with 190 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, and the turbocharged T5, which generates 254 horses and 295 pound-feet. The range-topping T6, which is both turbocharged and supercharged, cranks out 360 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of twist.

The diesel lineup starts with the D3, rated at 150 horsepower and 240 pound-feet, and moves up to the D4 with 190 horses and 300 pound-feet. The D5 version delivers a more solid 235 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of twist. All-wheel-drive is standard on most models and optional for the rest. Finally, the T8 hybrid drivetrain, which pairs a 2.0-liter, turbocharged and supercharged four-banger and a 60-kW (80-horsepower) electric motor, cranks out 390 horsepower. A less powerful T6 hybrid comes with 340 horses on tap. The eight-speed automatic transmission is standard regardless of the drivetrain setup.

2019 Volvo V60 Pricing
