In 2009 Volvo will launch the XC60 crossover, but they might not stop here. Volvo is examining moving both upscale and downmarket from the existing lineup of the V50, V70, XC70, XC90 and XC60.

The XC60 is about the same size as the BMW X3 or Acura RDX and rides on Ford Motor Co.’s EUCD platform, which also spawns the S80 flagship sedan. But the V50 is the only people hauler that rides on Ford’s compact C1 platform. As for the V90, Kerssemakers said it is "high on my wish list, but we have to be realistic. There’s a limit to what a small organization can do."
