The Acceler8 YouTube Channel pit a Ford Bronco against a Jeep Wrangler on a drag strip. The SUVs go head to head in two races, and a surprise third race. Keep reading to find out which one is faster.

Ever since the Bronco came out, it was almost immediately compared with the daddy of the segment, the Jeep Wrangler. The Wrangler has pretty much enjoyed this end of the market to itself for years, until now.

But this showdown is different, taking place at a drag strip. It's your classic is my car faster or yours drag race.

The Bronco

The Ford Bronco seen here is a 2021 Outer Banks model with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that produces 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque.

The Wrangler

The Jeep Wrangler that took on the Bronco is the Sahara Model with a 3.6 liter Pentastar V-6 engine that produces 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

With the numbers out of the way, who's your money on? Will the Bronco's higher horsepower dominate, or will the Jeep's larger capacity engine lead the way. Keep reading to find out.

Race 1

The Bronco & Wrangler line up for the launch. The hammer drops and the Jeep gets a decent start and as the race progresses, the Wrangler pulls away from the Bronco and takes the win by a couple of car lengths or should I say, SUV lengths. This race was done without the boost feature active on the Bronco. The Wrangler meanwhile doesn't have a boost function.

Race 2

For the second race, the Bronco uses its Sport Mode to build up its boost. Let's see if the added punch makes a difference in performance to get the Ford off the line. To our surprise, it did. This time, the Ford got a much better start and pulled a lead on the Jeep early on, however, the Wrangler did catch up with the Bronco and managed to get past it. That makes it two wins for the Jeep, although the Jeep was running on premium fuel.

Race 3

In a surprise third race, Acceler8 brings along their Dodge RAM with a Hemi to take on the Bronco. Upon launching, the RAM struggles for traction, while the Bronco pulls a decent lead on the Dodge, but yet again, the Ram catches up with the Bronco and just manages to get past it to take the win.

After watching these two SUVs go head to head, it seems like good old engine capacity is still king. What we'd like to see next is might be an off-road race of some kind to see which of these two beasts is faster. Accler8, we hope you're listening.
