When it comes to drag race preferences, there are two trains of thought. Some of us like seeing supercars go for the kill on the drag strip, and some of us prefer mass-market cars to go up against each other. The latter seems more realistic because most of us can actually relate to it. Sam from Sam CarLegion has conducted many drag races that include the ‘regular’ cars like the Ford Mustang, the Volkswagen Jetta, the Honda Accord, the Ford Fusion, etc. This time he brought a Honda Civic Si and a Hyundai Elantra N-Line to the fore for another exciting race. Which of these do you think will win?

Both These Cars Are Very Similar To Each Other

Power is routed to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. It also comes with a limited-slip differential. It weighs 2,952 pounds.

It is offered with a six-speed manual gearbox, but in Canada, you only get a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Power is routed to the front wheels here as well. It tips the scales at 2,954 pounds, just two pounds more than the Civic Si.

The first race was from a dig. The Civic Si was much quicker off the line in the race from the dig. It rocketed off while the Elantra was still trying to find its feet. But, once it picked up speeds, it was a cakewalk for the Elantra, thanks to the dual-clutch transmission coming into play. It would’ve been interesting if the Elantra was equipped with the manual gearbox as well.

The second standing drag race was a surprising turn of events. The Civic Si was off to a flying start yet again, but unlike the previous race, the Elantra was nowhere in the picture this time. It seemed like Sam had the perfect shifts here, but did the Elantra’s driver play around with the drive modes or other settings? Not very sure about this.

The next round was a roll race from 31 mph (50 kph). The Civic Si was a tad bit quicker at kickdown and had its nose ahead for a while. But, the Elantra soon pipped its Japanese rival and went on to win the race. So, a 2-1 win for the Elantra N-Line in the end.
