If you plan to take your car to a snowy area, what do you do? Get a set of winter and snow tires, or wrap around snow chains, right? Well, this dude took things to the next level by swapping the rear tires with snow tracks! Michael uploaded a video on his YouTube channel lowlifeduramax where you can see this Model 3-turned-snowmobile in action. Surprisingly, he managed to keep the Model 3 in one piece even after multiple runs.

How Do People Even Come Up With Such Ideas In The First Place?

The Model 3 used for this experiment is a rear-wheel-drive Standard Range Plus variant. Michael replaced the rear tires with snow tracks that make it look more like a tank than a snowmobile.

But, they didn’t and it looks like Mullin Manufacturing did a good job designing them. Especially since you can see the tracks flinch a few times, especially while reversing. Nevertheless, they seem to be meant only for crawling speeds and Michael does not push it hard. The ride seemed compliant at all times and you can even hear Michael say “she rides nice, no complaints. It drives up hills like it’s nothing.”

Now that the snow test is done, Michael wants to take it through the mud as well. After all, the video’s description reads "I put snow tracks on my Tesla model 3 SR+ rear wheel drive and took it on a snowmobile trail for experimental purposes. I think I want to take it thru mud next time."

Given Musk’s propensity to create all sorts of fun things, can we expect a Tesla Snowmobile in the future? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
