You don’t get to see a Dodge Demon every day. Then again, you don’t get to see it as it stretches its muscles during some good ol’ drag racing in the company of a Toyota Supra, a BMW E30, and Savage Garage’s Ford Raptor. Oh, and this is no prep drag-race, by the way, as the whole scenario unfolds in the desert, between bursting clouds of sand.

Now that we have your attention, get ready to be amazed by the Supra, which proves extremely apt at putting down the power and generating enough grip to shoot ahead of its rivals, literally leaving them behind, choking on its dust.

A Dodge Demon that drag races a Toyota Supra - isn’t that too far-fetched?

The drag race slash Mad Max-like desert hooning you are about to see involves four very special and at the same time very different cars. So let’s start with the Toyota Supra, since the sports car is the one taking everyone by surprise.

A bone-stock 2020 Toyota Supra relies on a BMW-sourced 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine that makes 335 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque.

As if that wasn’t a challenge in itself, the Supra must take on a taxi-livery Dodge Demon. As you know, the Demon is a purpose-built street-legal drag races that comes fitted with all the thinkable bells and whistles, including radial tires that need a good warming up even in the sand. Besides those fitments, the Demon cranks out 840 horsepower and 770 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to overshadow the nimble Supra. Or is it, now?

Apparently, while facing the Demon in a head-to-head race, the Supra has no problem accelerating away. We believe that has a lot to do with how heavy the two cars are. They’re both rear-wheel-driven, of course, but the Supra has a curb weight of 3,397 pounds, while the Demon tips the scales at 4,280 pounds - that’s a hefty 883 pounds difference which on sand, puts the Demon at a clear disadvantage, causing it to sink in, losing a lot of traction in the process.

The other two cars featured in the video are Gas Junkies’ V-8-swapped BMW E30 which relies on more than 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque and Savage Garage’s LS-swapped 2013 Ford F-150 Raptor which now recommends itself as a Trophy Truck. We don’t know what amount of grunt hides inside the truck, but out of all the vehicles present, it’s the most entitled to take part in a desert race.

Seeing these guys having so much fun in the sand with four cars that couldn’t be more different - by the way, the location is the Jean Lake Bed, around 30 miles outside Las Vegas - is making us grab the phone, call our buddies, and head out for a road trip for the rest of the weekend. Speaking of which, where are you taking your beloved cars for a spin these days?
