Family wars are pretty interesting, and today, we’ve got two from a certain Japanese dynasty. One of these ‘princes’ is the Acura TLX Type S, and the other, a Honda Civic Touring
The Acura TLX Type S is powered by a 3.0-liter, turbocharged V-6 engine that makes 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of twist. A 10-speed automatic gearbox drives all four wheels here
The Honda Civic Touring comes with a 1.5-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder mill that is tuned to put out 300 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. Front wheels are powered via a CVT
The Acura TLX is a pretty plump sedan, tipping the scales 4,179 pounds. This makes it over 1,000 pounds heavier than the 3,140-pound Honda Civic
For the second race, they were both slotted in the sportiest settings and manual shifting for the gearbox in the Acura. The Civic has a CVT, so no manual shifting there
The Acura hooked better at kickdown and strayed ahead, thus prompting the driver not to use the manual shifting. But, the Civic soon edged it and got past to add another win to its tally
We are curious to see if manual shifting the Acura all the way would’ve made a difference because the Civic didn’t win by a very big margin. But, perhaps we’ll never know
