The Audi S4 B5 is old, but gold. Not only does it cost a small fortune if it's in good condition, but some owners do tend to tune it to insanity regardless of its status.

How insane is this one here?

Bugatti Chiron-rivaling insane. I'm not freaking joking as just the other day an old Audi S4 B5 was filmed in Germany rushing to hit the half-mile mark. Clawing its way with all four tires that barely keep it on the ground and the straight line, this particular Audi S4 B5 has a masterfully tuned engine that delivers an insane 1,442 horsepower. Or apparently, 1,442 horsepower, because my reason does not allow me to believe everything I hear on the Internet.

Nevertheless, the half-mile run during which this wagon achieved 190 mph suggests that 1,442 horsepower may just be right.

Not An Original 2.7-liter In This One!

This particular Audi S4 B5 was probably produced after the year 2000. After all, this generation of athecar has been in production from 1997 to 2001, but some details on this one (like the headlights) suggest it is a facelifted car from the end of the production run.

Up front and under the bonnet there should be a fantastic, original 2.7-liter, twin-turbocharged, V-6 that develops a healthy 265 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. This one, tuned by German TTD has a 3.0-liter engine from the RS4.

I am not comparing it to the fast wagons of today (with which it could be compared) because the video you are about to see shows that the S4 B5 was born for more amusing things. Like, making a half-mile sprint and hitting a top speed of 190 mph at the checkpoint. I am sure it could do even better with stickier tires.

Is This Audi RS4 B5 Wagon The Best Sleeper Ever?

I am not saying it is, but consider the facts:

-* It's grey

-* It is a wagon

-* It doesn’t look conspicuous

-* It makes a hell of a show accelerating

-* It's a Nineties car

-* It has 1,442 horsepower

I don’t know how anything can be more “sleeper” than this!?

Heck, it is a car that could pull a trick on the Veyron and the Chiron. I think the Chiron can clock 189 mph at the ½ of a mile pass. Similar to this little German brute. Now, I don’t know the exact performance numbers for this particular Audi S4 B5, but the fact is that it is a wagon, capable of extraordinary things, including humiliating supercars of almost all kind.

Only months ago, this Audi S4 B5 made some seriously fast half-mile passes. Well, now it is faster. Bear in mind these numbers I have put for the Chiron are unofficial, but I would not be surprised if they are, indeed correct.

Conclusion

The real limit for tuning is unknown. Having a car more than 20 years old with a V-6 that pushes out 1,400+ horsepower is amazing, to say the least. I can’t even imagine what sort of upgrades the Germans made to it. I did find that this one has a 3.0-liter RS4 engine under its bonnet and it is fitted with a Garrett GT3086 turbocharger, though, so there's that.
