The Gumbal YouTube channel is a great follow if you’re the type who makes incredible videos of cars doing car things as part of your daily routine. Recently, we caught a video of a Mercedes-AMG E 63 S sitting right smack in the middle of the Bimmerworld 2019 event. You’re probably wondering what a Mercedes-AMG E 63 S is doing in a BMW event, and while it would be fun to make some silly story about the circumstances of its presence, we’ll leave that up to your imaginations. The important thing isn’t that the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S attended the Bimmerworld 2019 event. The important is what it did there.

The spectacle of seeing a burnout is unlike anything you’ll ever see in the business. That’s especially true when the plumes of smoke coming from the tires get so big they swallow the car entirely. You’re going to need a few things to pull this kind of smoke-tastic burnout, including a car with enough power under its hood to wreck a set of tires faster than you can count to a minute. Throw in an engine upgrade from noted Mercedes tuner Renntech and, well, something like this happens.

The “something” that you're about to see isn’t for the weak of heart. It’s certainly not for those who take good care of the tires on their cars. But if you’re a fan of tire-wrecking burnouts, this video of the AMG E 63 S is something of a must-watch.

The burnout actually started on a whimper, a far-too common sight for nervous drivers who are thinking a mile-a-minute on performing the perfect burnout. Once he got his wits in check — and turned off the performance sedan’s traction control — the AMG E 63 S roared to life and the show was on. At some point, it sounded like the driver managed to get the AMG E 63 S in fifth gear, meaning that the sedan would’ve have been doing over 100 mph on the open road. Instead, it was running in place at that speed and the friction caused by the rubber tires running in place and the platform it was sitting on meant some serious tire smoke. And yes, folks, the tire smoke completely swallows the AMG E 63 S, rendering the sedan invisible for a few seconds. And just as quickly as it hid behind the cloud of smoke, the driver lifted his foot off the gas and the show-stopping spectacle was over.

Once the smoke dissipated, the reason behind the short-lived burnout became evident. Apparently, the burnout was so violent that it ripped the AMG E 63 S’ tires to shreds. The driver-side rear tire had the cords showing — not a good sign for a tire — and while its counterpart still had its rubber strips, it was completely scalded bald.

At some point, you’re going to wonder whether this muscle-flexing stunt is worth the trouble and the costs of replacing the tires. After all, we’re not just talking about run-off-the-mill rubber here. They’re Michelin tires, and while it’s not specifically clear what type of Michelin tires they are, there’s a good chance that they’re some form of Pilot Sport tires that cost somewhere in the vicinity of $400…per tire. That’s two shredded tires that he has to account for, though if he really wants to be careful on the road, the two front tires might have to go, too. That would bring his cost up to $1,600, not accounting the other potential issues the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S suffered as a result of his burnout.

Does the cost of repair justify the spectacle of the smoke-filled burnout? I can’t speak for the driver and owner of the Mercedes-AMG E 63 S, but as a spectator, I’d say ‘yes,’ especially if the result is something like what we just saw.
