Since the dawn of electric vehicles, all the records set by internal combustion-engined supercars and hypercars are in danger. The same applies to drag races and quarter-mile runs, too. We’ve seen numerous races where EVs have obliterated some of the most beloved fuel-powered counterparts.

Here’s another race where a V-10 takes on a dual-motor setup. We’re talking about the Lamborghini Huracan Performante and the Tesla Model S. Both the cars are closely matched in terms of performance, but the race wasn’t as close as expected. Will the Italian bull touch the finish line first, or will the silent assassin prevail?

That’s A Close Match-Up

Let’s get the specs out of the way first. The Lamborghini Huracan Performante is powered by a 5.2-liter, V-10 naturally-aspirated engine that makes 630 horses and 443 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the wheels via a seven-speed automatic gearbox and weighs 3,428 pounds. It takes 2.6 seconds to sprint to 60 mph from a standstill and has a top speed of over 201 mph.

This Tesla Model S, on the other hand, comes with the Cheetah mode and all the latest wizardry that Musk’s kingdom has to offer. The dual-motor setup churns out 835 ponies and 959 pound-feet of twist combined. Despite weighing 4,940 pounds – over 1,500 pounds more than the Lambo – it takes just 2.4 seconds to sprint to 60 mph and has a top of 163 mph.

The folks at AutoTrader conducted a quarter-mile race and a 0-100-0 mph run too. We won’t spoil it for you, so check out the video and shoot your thoughts in the comments section below.
