In case you were wondering how is life treating former F1 champion Nico Rosberg, then lavishly would be the right word to describe it. After retiring from Formula 1 in 2016, the former Mercedes driver couldn’t stay away from cars and started his own YouTube channel that amassed over 660,000 subscribers at the time of writing.

It looks like the career shift has worked like a charm for Mr. Rosberg, who’s now privileged with getting behind the wheel of some of the world’s most exclusive and expensive supercars. His latest experience involves the Ferrari Monza SP1 and the famed Fiorano test track.

Nico Rosberg waited 10 years and 206 races to become Formula 1 world champion. When that finally happened, he quickly went for the “quit while you’re ahead” creed and announced his retirement from the competition, saying that “he has family he wants to focus on, and F1 takes so much from you.” That was happening just five days after being crowned champion. We’re just glad he didn’t forget about the car world entirely.

Now, during his visit at Ferrari’s Fiorano track, Nico Rosberg had the chance to hoon the 1 of 160 Limited Edition Ferrari Monza SP1. It not only costs €1.7 million (roughly $1.86 million), but it’s not the sort of car that Ferrari hands over for a casual test drive. Just do a quick search on Google, you won’t get that many hits for a review. Sure, being a former F1 ace helps a lot in getting access to such a car, even if Rosberg did use to race for Mercedes-AMG.

It’s not just the astronomical price tag on the Monza SP1 that makes it a mechanical gem. Launched in 2018 alongside the SP2, the single-seater SP1 (the SP2 allows two occupants to ride inside) packs a 65-degree V-12 displacing 6.5 liters. It’s tuned to produce 810 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 530 pound-feet of torque at 7,000 rpm (like in the 812 Superfast), enough to get to 62 mph from a standstill in 2.9 seconds en route to a top speed of over 190 mph - Ferrari doesn’t offer a number but this is the best estimate we can come up with. Helping along the way is the SP1’s dry weight of just 3,307 pounds.
