Intra-family cars wars are always super exciting. It’s not cars taking a united front against rivals from other brands, but siblings going up against each other. Since automakers don’t want cannibalization within the brand, you don’t get similar vehicles to go up against each other. But, on the flipside, that is what makes it interesting as there could be upset victories; just like this drag race here.

‘Archie Hamilton Racing’ brought in an Audi RS3 and Audi RS6 to face each other on the drag strip. The RS6 features a bigger engine and makes more power, but the RS3 is lighter and features a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Since we’ve already spilled the beans in the title, there are no surprises here. It’s just utter humiliation by the smallest RS model against its six-digit price-tag sibling.

How Much Power Do The Cars Make?

Power is routed to the wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It takes around 3.8 seconds to sprint to 60 mph from rest. The RS3 weighs 3,472 pounds.

An eight-speed automatic gearbox power all four wheels. The wagon sprints to 60 mph from rest in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph. You can pay extra and get it unlocked up to 190 mph, though. It is, obviously, much heavier than the RS3. The RS6 weighs 4,575 pounds, which makes it a little over 1,100 pounds heavier than its counterpart.

What Happened In The Races?

The races weren’t timed, but we got a good view of the action. And, the cars had enough distance between them to show the kind of dominance the smaller RS3 showed here. They went up against each other thrice in standing drag races. The RS3 got a better launch and got a good lead over the RS6 Avant. The latter started to close in on the gap, but couldn’t. The launch from the RS3 was just too good for the hot wagon. For the second race, the RS3 switched to manual gear shifting, but it made things even worse for the RS6. The third race wasn’t any better either. 3-0 for the RS3 in the drag races.

Next up was the rolling race. They started with cars in manual mode from 30 mph. Since the drag races were all about good launch and traction, the roll races were expected to be a lot more competitive. In fact, the RS3 entered the battlefield as the underdog here. Somehow, this underdog flipped the tables and got a win over the RS6! They were neck and neck at kickdown, but the RS3 just shot off to pull a genuinely upset victory.
