This video will give you the Po and Master Shifu vibes throughout

We’ve seen a crazy number of performance trucks in the past, like the GMC Syclone and the Ram SRT-10. There was one offering from Ford as well that got all the enthusiasts pumped up – the SVT Lightning. The truck was sent into oblivion after two generations that spanned a little under 10 years, combined. It came with sedate looks and a powerful engine made to sprint.

Today, the F-150 Raptor covers up for it, but is it as good as the SVT Lightning? StangMode has uploaded a video of both these trucks going against each other on his YouTube channel, and it will answer this question for you.

F-150 Raptor Versus The SVT Lightning

The SVT Lightning seen here is a 2000 model that came with a 5.4-liter, V-8 engine with an 8.0-psi supercharger that churns out 360 horses and 440 pound-feet of torque

. Power is sent to the wheel via a four-speed automatic transmission. In the stock form, this truck takes 6.3 seconds to hit the 62 mph mark from a standstill, which is quite impressive for a truck built to 2000 standards. It is in mint condition and has just 26,000 miles on the odo.

The F-150 Raptor, on the other hand, is powered by a 3.5-liter, V-6 EcoBoost engine that makes 450 horses and 510 pound-feet of torque.

Power is sent to the wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission. It takes about 5.5 seconds to hit 62 mph from a standstill. Although the SVT Lightning is slower than the Raptor off the line, it has a strong mid-range that makes it faster than the latter during rolling starts. The same is seen in the video, that has drag races, rolling races, and so on. Check it out for yourself.

The SVT Lightning Is A Special Truck

Ford kicked things up a notch when it debuted the SVT Lightning in 1993. The performance truck from the Blue Oval raised a lot of eyebrows and garnered a lot of attention. It soon became a fan favorite. The company kept it in production for about two years, before sending it on a three-year exile and bringing it back at the stroke of the millennium. The second run was the most successful one, spanning for over half a decade. The company later premiered a third-gen of the SVT Lightning, but it never made it to production, thus finally retiring it forever. We don’t see it coming back anytime soon, or perhaps, ever again, but it will be nice to have it in the mix since the Raptor is more of an off-roader and not purely a performance truck.

The SVT Lightning was impressive for its time and seeing how well it has aged, it won’t be wrong to say that it still has a loyal fan base. If you had to pick one of these two, with money being no object, which one would it be – the F-150 Raptor or the SVT Lightning? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
